$1.99 Ages 6-up Overall rating: 4.3 out of 5 stars Why we like it: Anyone with doubts about the pedagogic power of an iPad or Android device should spend a few minutes with this app. Why? They'll be speaking Chinese in just a day. Of course you'll only learn the basics: things like numbers from one to 10, animals, fruits, colors, countries by flags, shapes, transportation and stationary. Still, that's 71 Chinese words, presented in a series of drills. Need to know: Testers found the experience to be engaging, and fast repetition was surprisingly effective, despite the primitive-looking graphics. Ease of use: 8/10 Educational: 9/10 Entertaining: 9/10
